SIZE MATTERS ???

SARAH-JESSICA-PARKER.Lace Dress.

LACE DRESS/Studio TiCa.Price: Rs 2990..

‘I used to think Basketball was my answer to growing tall’ By hook or by crook I made that one hour to hang out with the Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’neal of my College, despite knowing I was making a complete ‘fool’ of myself. In my head it was, laugh all you want people but I know i am definitely growing an inch taller!! Think Gulliver and the Lilliputs , that was exactly how the basketball court looked

like!! Fine, Stage 1 was a disaster. I moved on to Stage 2, Pull Ups, am I not a Genius?? My Dad was an Exercise Aficionado ,With his help I tried doing at least 10 pull ups a day ,Truth be told here ,I couldn’t lift myself ,i needed his help just to push me up!!

Stage2, another disaster!! After realizing I cannot defy the natural growing principles, I moved on to ‘Style Mantras’ .The ‘fashion Aids’ - Six inch heels, Waist pants to add length, Stay away from voluminous clothes, No prints please. I realize if you can’t grow tall at least you can fake being tall. Come rain,

summer winter, those heels were on my feet. Be it in the streets, the playgrounds, the market they were my faithful companion. Ridiculous as it sounds, what we women won’t do when we are in denial .That was me for a very long time. Petite SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker ) from ‘Sex and the City’, AKA- Carrie Bradshaw, Amongst her 3 tall friends, she’s the one that stands out the most. She pulls off an outfit with more suave and confidence than a 6 ft model. (Some ridiculous and fashion challenging I might add), but the confidence and attitude is worth the applaud. Fashion in a beautiful or in an absurd

manner, trust SJP to pull it off.

Over the years I have realized the key is ‘Acceptance’ and ‘Accentuate’. Knowing how you are.For a very long time I believed in my faithful heels and sadly the key to my self esteem. Embracing flats for me reflects self acceptance and I spent years trying to fight my natural sexy petite structure. Don’t step out without them, people will see you as a dwarf, in reality ,I’m very comfortable in my flats, I adore my flats and I have a wide range in them, Grecian ,Jeweled, Strappy, Gladiator you name it. What’s the point in wearing a Six inch heels and still feeling like an uneasy dwarf. Might as well be a ‘A confident dwarf’ and fell tall. My flats made me so tall and that’s the confident needed to pull any look.

Accentuate : Accentuate your strengths and minimize problem areas. We are all not perfect but we can be forgiving to our body. Focusing on our blessed area is a deliverance and redemption in fashion. I have an almost perfect upper torso, A sexy V or a wider neckline can draw attention upward, focusing on your face and upper body. Wearing crew necked blouses or tops can make you look ‘Stunted’.

Knowing the Mantras is surely a guideline. But,What can I say I love My Prints, My long skirts, Layers, am I going to forfeit it? I like being counter intuitive, Seeing this short woman trying on something that she knows makes her look ‘shorter’ !!! Take something that challenges you and make it work for you. It’s a new era in fashion. Begin to accept ‘YOU’. I’m okay for being ‘small’,I might as well have fun , enjoy clothes and make eyes turn .As I say ‘all good things come in small packages’ ..
